for the record...

Let's see...over the weekend I finished a scarf in Homespun and I started a purse. I also (finally!) got the unfinished child's sweater out of the basement so I could continue working on it. I only got a few rows done, though. Another project in the works: a white scarf for Hannah to wear to school.

Erik returned to the States from Ghana. He is actually home on medical leave. He's in DC being checked out by doctors there because he had some problems with his asthma. The one good thing about this is that I will get to see him when I am in DC this weekend visiting my friend Theresa (also a former Peace Corps volunteer).

Tomorrow is Carolyn's birthday. Her husband brought an awesome present home for her today. I had to help lift it into the garage. It's a huge antique chest. He bought it so she'd have something to keep her paints and easel in when not in use.

Juli and I will be preparing dinner for the birthday celebration. Here is the menu:
baked goat cheese over mesclun greens
vegetable curry
saffron rice
chicken (for the non-vegetarians)
naan
pumpkin cheesecake

Yum!

I quit my job back in June in hopes that I might take some time to figure out what I really want/need to do and I still have no clue. I haven't worked in months and I feel like I've accomplished very little. I am still planning to apply to the Peace Corps, but beyond that...I don't know. I figure I will buy myself some time by volunteering overseas and hopefully gain some experience as well. I do, however, need to find a job before the money runs out. I'm thinking temp work, but Carolyn also suggested some holiday retail work. Something I swore I would never do again. I also picked up an application for 7-11. Most everyone I've mentioned it to thinks I am crazy for even considering working at a convenience store, but I think I might like it. I can always quit, right?
